Description
History of Guy Fawkes Night
This is a traditional annual event in The UK usually taking place on the 5th November each year. In 1605, November 5th, Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators plotted to blow up Parliament by placing explosives beneath The House of Lords. Guy was arrested while guarding the explosives and to celebrate the failed attempt on The Kings Life, people lit bonfires around London, UK. Months later “Observance of 5th November Act” was introduced and enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot’s failure. Traditionally, a “Guy” is placed on top of the Bonfire and along with food and drink, people have gathered to celebrate this event annually since 1605. The Fire is lit and fireworks are set off.
